President Obama

I know you all are probably tired of hearing me rant about Obama and the race, but here it goes again. This is why I think Obama will be president. The right wing of the Republican party has denounced McCain so much that it has driven away alot of voters who will either not vote in November or will vote Democratic. The damage has been done and like I heard one commentator say, the Republicans are now about healing the party and not the country and the independents, fence-sitters, and Dems are tired of it. Obama has teflon among Dems that they don't care if he plagiarizes or doesn't have a plan for the future that they are willing to vote for him and feel that whenever Hilliary points out any of his faults or shortcomings, that she is using underhanded tactics or is being a bully. The press loves him. This week Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report have Obama on 1 cover and his wife on the other. There are more articles on him and his life thanall the other candidates combined and you won't find one word attacking him. Another show that the press is for him-CNN. On Tuesday night Hilliary was making a speech and they cut away from her to bring Obama's victory speech in Wisconsin. It's a done deal and we better get used to having him as a president. Like my daughter says, he looks like George Bush and has about as good a record as he does. Canada looks better every day!

Whole City Lift

It was announced today that Charlotte, NC is the number 2 place in nation (number 1 was never given) for plastic surgery. That should encourage more folks to come to Charlotte. Don't have any great tourist attractions? No problem! Come get a face lift, or a tummy tuck, or liposuction.
So not only is the city trying to hide its flaws, so are its inhabitants. The city for at least the last 2 decades has tried to be something it's not. Trying to be a "worls-class city" instead of the nice quaint town we used to be. Now they put up this front about all the great things we have here--the Panthers, the Bobcats, the whitewater center, but they cannot hide the crime, the poor roads, the traffic, the out-of-control city & county commissions as well as a horrible school system. We may look good on the outside, but the inside is ugly. Now the people are trying to discuise their faults and shortcomings by having their outsides changed. These are the same people who say look at me, look how pretty & sexy I am, look how important I am, but don't get too close to me or you might see the real me.

Reminds me of the old joke where a woman is in the hospital and she dies on table and meets God. She asks him, "Am I dead?" God replies, "No, it's not your time yet. You will live another 30 years." She comes back to life and realizes that the dream was real and if she is going to live another 30 years, she wants to make the most of it. So, she decides to have a facelift, tummy tuck, liposuction, hair dyed--the whole bit. As she walks out of the hospital, she is hit by a bus and dies. When she gets to heaven she says to God, "I thought I had another 30 years left." God replies, "Sorry, I didn't recognize you."

Maybe God will not recognize this city and mistake for another Soddom or Gomorrah and start all over again. We need to start somewhere. Maybe if I just had a little liposuction...

Distractions! Distractions

Another distraction by the U.S. government to keep us from paying attention to the decline in the U.S.-Congress isspending our tax dollars to find out the truth behind steroid use in baseball. Just what they need to be concentrating on at this time when the dollar is falling, the hosuing market is crashing, the recession is worsening, the wars in Iraq AND Afghanistan are continuing, and a $3 TRILLION budget is at their feet! C'mon people! What next? An ivestigation into the sex life of Madonna? The child custody battle with Britney & KFed? The drug overdose of Heath Ledger? Whether Paris Hilton is a fit dog owner? Even yesterday, Senator Specter approached the NFL commissioner about the "spygate" scandal of the Patriots! Anything to keep our minds off of reality and to keep the government from actually having to face the issues and problems at home. Spend, spend, spend and keep the distractions coming.

In related news, Cupid will be appearing before a Senate hearing committee on whether it is lawful for him to carry concealed arrows and to bring love into the lives of the loveless or whether that would fall under stalking laws and violate a persons right to be unloved.

Also, it was reported by the AP & UPI newswires that Hell has officially frozen over and the ice is thick enough to support the entire U.S. Congress, Supreme Court, and Executive branch.

Nuke me up

Did anyone see this? Apparently the government is looking for input on the proposed transfer of nuclear waste through North & South Carolina on its way to Tennessee for procesiing and then to Utah for disposal. Sounds okay right? Wrong! The nuclear waste is from Italy! Why are we importing another country's nuclear waste? Don't we have enough here that needs disposal? Doesn't Italy have their own disposal plants? If not, then why are they producing nuclear waste. Disposal of nuclear waste is not something I think of as an international affair, much less an intercontinental affair. Hey, since this country is going to "hell in a handbag" anyway, lets open our borders to all the world's nuclear waste-China, Europe, Russia, North Korea, Iran. Maybe that is how we should handle the immigration problem. If the U.S. is full of nuclear & toxic waste, maybe illegal immigrants will stop crossing our borders out of fear of sterilization or mutation. Then maybe the rest of us can live in peace (or in pieces)-watching our reality TV with our third eye while multitasking with four arms.

On a related note, I remember in the early 1980's that if you went deer hunting in S.C. and you bagged a deer, you had to take it to regulation center to have it checked for radiation before you could take it home &/or eat it. Is that where we are headed again?

Where has all the money gone

Here's something that caught my attention and had me wondering. I use Ebay alot both for buying and selling & it struck me hard when I bought an item from Canada and they wanted the money in Canadian dollars instead of U.S. dollars. So, I checked the exchange rate and found the U.S. dollar is worth less! So I took it upon myself to do some research and here is what I came up with. On 1 January 2000 (when Clinton was still President), the U.S. dollar was worth 1.45 Canadian dollars (CD). As of today the U.S. dollar is worth .98 CD or a decrease in value of almost 50%!!! Also, the USD was worth .99 Euros and .61 British Pounds (BP). Today it is "worth" .68 Euros and .51BP! That is a 31% drop in value against the Euro and 16% drop against the BP. No wonder we have a huge deficit in this country now. Our money is becoming worthless. It has even dropped 13.4% against the Chinese Yuan (from 8.2/USD in 2000 to 7.1/USD today). That means China's money is becoming more valuable than ours! No wonder China is buying up all our stocks and land. They will own us before we know it.

Mitt sets up Obama

Mitt Romney announced his evacuation from the Republican candidacy which will disappoint alot of Conservatives who have said that McCain is more liberal than Hillary and would vote for Hillary. What if Hillary loses to Obama (which is highly likely)?

Here is my scenario: Obama takes the Democratic nomination & names Hillary for vice-president which will give the Dems the super ticket against McCain & whoever (I think it will be either Romney or Huckabee) and some Republicans will crossover and put Obama in the White House (which may have to be renamed or repainted).
