In this time of economic turmoil and the ever increasing burden the Federal Government is placing on the hard working American, I have researched some quotes from famous people in history that are true today. May we remember these words and ponder upon them:
The government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. If it stops moving, subsidize it.
                                                                                                 -Ronald Reagan (1911-2004)
The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'
                                                                                                   -Ronald Reagan
The function of socialism is to raise suffering to a higher level.
                                                                                                  -Norman Mailer (1923-2007)
Socialism is nothing but the capitalism of the lower classes.
                                                                                                 -Oswald Spengler (1880-1936)
If government could create jobs and raise children, socialism would have worked.
                                                                                                 -George Gilder
Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.
                                                                                                 -Harry S Truman (1884-1972)
Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other.
                                                                                                   -John Adams (1735-1826)
The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.
                                                                                                     -Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)
Public confidence in the integrity of the Government is indispensable to the faith in democracy, and when we lose faith in the system, we have lost faith in everything we fight and spend for.
                                                                                                     -Adlai E. Stevenson (1900-1965)
A government that is big enough to give you all you want, is big enough to take it all away.
                                                                                                      -Barry Goldwater (1909-1998)
A society of sheep must in time beget a government of wolves.
                                                                                                      -Betrand de Jouvenal
But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored to Liberty, once lost, it is lost forever.
                                                                                                      -John Adams
Society is produced by our wants and government by our wickedness.
                                                                                                      -Thomas Paine (1737-1809)
The impersonal hand of government can never replace the helping hand of a neighbor.
                                                                                                      -Hubert H. Humphrey (1911-1978)
A government that robs Peter to pay Paul will always have the support of Paul.
                                                                                                     -George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)
I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.
                                                                                                      -Will Rogers (1879-1935)
Government is too big and too important to be left to politicians.
                                                                                                      -Chester Bowles (1901-1986)
For every action there is an equal and opposite government program.
                                                                                                     -Bob Wells
The mystery of government is not how Washington works, but how to make it stop.
                                                                                                     -P.J. O'Rourke
Whenever you have an efficient government, you have a dictatorship.
                                                                                                    -Harry S Truman
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it always to be kept alive.
                                                                                                   -Thomas Jefferson
While you may think these sayings are cute and comical, they drive to the core of our democracy and must instill in us the strength and fortitude to keep it alive at all costs. We must drive the tyrants and the dictators from our midst and let Freedom ring in this great land forever.
Remember these words: Government is nothing more than organized crime.
